What is this?
The Friends of Chevy Chase Library invites seniors and their families to learn more about key issues and solutions around aging and the adjustments seniors and their families need to make to optimize quality of life.
The first session focuses on issues for seniors themselves, including,
· Senior services available in Montgomery County; what additional services are needed
· The importance of planning before having a medical, legal or financial crisis. What kind of plans does one need to have? What kinds of things should be in the plan? Where/how to get started with this?
· Housing options and their implications for financial planning and budgeting; Selling one’s home to fund assisted living facilities etc. What things do seniors need to do in order to age in place? What things to look for if moving to a new community or assisted living? Tips on how to simplify the downsizing process.
· The importance of understanding one’s finances to be ready for retirement and the next stage of life. How to budget for aging-in-place or living in a new home/community
