What is this?
Dementia Friendly America is a national network of communities and organizations working to ensure that their communities are equipped to support people living with dementia and their caregivers. This education session led by trained Dementia Friendly Champions, Jane King and Ray Biegun of Alexandria At Home village, will address normal aging versus dementia, the typical progression of dementia, conversation tips for communicating with a person who has dementia and more. AHA is collaborating with BMAV and other area villages to offer this program and registration is required. While the training will be especially helpful for those volunteers who want to do friendly visits with members with dementia, it can be helpful for all of us. Participants will receive a Dementia Friend certificate upon completion.
