Make a difference in the lives of your Bethesda neighbors

Bethesda Metro Area Village opened its doors in November 2016 and initially benefited from a generous in-kind co-occupancy grant by the Trawick Foundation that provided office space and related services for our first two years, and cash grants from Montgomery County community grants. This funding, plus a successful membership drive, allowed us to achieve a solid membership base. Like for all villages, membership dues do not cover all of our operating expenses. Therefore, we must continually seek additional funding to support and enhance the services we provide.
We cannot thank our donors enough for their generosity, which has allowed us to grow and prosper.
Donations via credit card can be made by clicking here.
Contributions by check can be made to “Bethesda Metro Area Village” and mailed to BMAV, P.O. Box 30525, Bethesda, MD 20824. BMAV is an IRS designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization and our tax ID number is 47-1380283.
We also welcome in-kind donations of goods or services, such as space and refreshments for events. Please contact our Executive Director at director@bmavillage.org.
Other Gifting Opportunities
Our tax laws encourage charitable giving in various ways, and you may want to consider one or more of the following alternatives in making a gift to BMAV. The information provided below is not intended to provide, and should not be relied on for, tax, legal or accounting advice. Consult your advisor before engaging in any transaction.
- Remembering BMAV in Your Will. An excellent way for you to support BMAV’s mission is to leave the Village a bequest in your will, living trust or with a codicil. A significant benefit of making a gift by bequest is that it allows you to continue to use the property you will leave to charity during your life. Bequests to charitable organizations like BMAV are generally deductible for federal estate tax purposes and there may be state estate tax benefits as well.
- Donate a Portion of Your Required Minimum Distribution to BMAV. Those of you who have turned 70½ and must make minimum distributions from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) can have your IRA administrator transfer up to $100,000 per year directly to an eligible charity. Normally, the amount transferred to the charity does not have to be reported as taxable income, but is counted as part of your required minimum distribution. This type of distribution is also referred to as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) or an IRA charitable rollover. Contact your IRA administrator for details on how to make such a donation.
- Donate Stock Directly to BMAV. If you own publicly traded stock that has appreciated in value, you can donate it and generally be entitled to a charitable deduction for the current market value without occurring any capital gain taxes for the appreciation. Our executive director can provide you with information to assist you in making a stock donation.
- Donor Advised Funds. Donor Advised Funds are designed to allow a donor to make a charitable contribution to a qualified public charity and receive an immediate tax deduction in the year of the contribution. The donor can then recommend distributions from the fund to charitable organizations like BMAV in subsequent tax years. Consult your bank or brokerage firm for details on how to set up a fund.
