The Friends of Chevy Chase Library invites seniors and their families to learn more about key issues and solutions around aging and the adjustments seniors and their families need to make to optimize quality of life.
This session will be of interest to both seniors and their adult children including:
Senior services available in Montgomery County; what additional ser
· How to have the difficult conversations to encourage aging parents to put these medical, legal, and financial decisions in place, along with plans for future living arrangements and end-of-life decisions. Tips on having such conversations.
· Assisting in the preparation of advanced medical directives, financial plans etc. How can children and parents work together to develop financial plans and budgets for post-retirement.
· Housing options for aging parents. What questions to ask when looking at a new place for an aging parent to live? What can adult children do to learn about the possible housing options for their parents?
· Selling one’s home to fund assisted living facilities etc. Tips on how to simplify the downsizing process. How to manage a parent's move into an assisted living community.
