Genealogy is one of the most popular hobbies in the U.S. today. This course explains what information is available, how to access data and utilize that data in furthering family history research. There will be five classes, meeting weekly for two hours.

Class 1 - Getting Started in Genealogy - Lecture.

Class 2 - US Census Research - Lecture and workshop.

Class 3 - Research Using FamilySearch.org and Other Free Websites - Lecture and workshop.

Class 4 - Field Trip to the Family History Center (FHC) in Kensington. MD. - Lecture and workshop.

Class 5 - Research Beyond the Internet - Lecture and workshop.

Students are encouraged to attend all the classes because they will build on each other and “homework” assignments from one class will be used in the workshops for the following class.
